Lady Irwin College Student Visit and Mehndi Competition

A group of ten Home Science students from Lady Irwin College visited the INA Centre of Samarth Bharat. During their visit, the students explored various skill development and livelihood initiatives undertaken at the centre. They engaged in meaningful interactions with the trainees, gaining insights into the grassroots-level efforts of Samarth Bharat. The visit proved to be an enriching learning experience for the students, allowing them to understand the impact and implementation of community-based initiatives.

On the same day, a Mehndi (henna) competition was also organized at the INA Centre. A total of nine girls participated in the event, showcasing their creativity by applying mehndi designs with one hand on their own other hand. The competition witnessed great enthusiasm among the participants. Shri Rakesh Ji, the Co-Province Coordinator of Samarth Bharat, encouraged the children with his presence.

The competition was judged by Ms. Madhu Gupta, winner of the Delhi Government’s Mehndi competition in 1995-96, along with Ms. Anju Gupta. Based on their evaluation, the winners were: Aparna (First Prize), Khushboo (Second Prize), and Aanchal (Third Prize). Shri Rakesh Ji honored the winners with cash prizes.

Overall, the day marked a blend of learning, creativity, and cultural expression at the INA Centre, offering valuable experiences to both the visiting students and participating trainees.
